What is the Judgment Seat of Christ?
▰ It is a future accounting for every Christian (2Cor 5:10).
▻ The term “judgment seat” comes from the Greek word “bema”, which refers to a raised place mounted by steps; a platform; used of the official seat of a judge
(compare Mat 27:19, Ac 12:21, Ac 18:12, Ac 25:6)
▻ The Bema Seat of Christ is a coming judgment when Christ will judge the earthly life and service of every Christian.
What is the Judgment Seat of Christ?
▰ It is NOT a judgment that sends some to hell.
▻ All unbelievers will stand before God’s Great White Throne Judgment after the Millennium (Rev 20:11-15).
▻ No true Christian will ever be condemned to hell for his sin (Rom 5:9; Joh 5:24; 1Joh 1:7, Eph 2:9; Rom 6:1-2). However, we will give an account of how we live to
our holy Lord who paid our debt.
▰ It is a time of reward or loss. Note the words “good or bad” (2Co 5:10; 1Co 3:14-15; 1Jn 2:28)
When and Where Will this Judgment Take Place?
▰ This judgment will be after the Rapture.
▻ It appears that this judgment will be immediately after the rapture when Christ takes Christians to heaven (Luk 14:14, 1Co 4:5; 1Jn 2:28; 2Ti 4:1)
▻ The Bema will either be in the air (1Th 4:17) or in heaven (Col 3:1).
▻ If the Judgment Seat of Christ is not right after the Lord raptures Christians, then it will be sometime during the seven-year Tribulation.
How Will Christ Judge Us?
▰ He will judge our deeds (or activities) to see if they count for eternity or not (1Co 3:9-15).
▻ The things we build our lives with are our deeds. Deeds please the Lord are like gold, silver, and precious stones that will last. Deeds displease the Lord are like
wood, hay, and stubble that will not last.
▻ We are not saved by works, but we are saved to work (Eph 2:10, Col 1:10). What you do for Christ is VERY important. We are saved to serve the Saviour. Christ
will hold each of us accountable for the deeds we do in this life.
How Will Christ Judge Us?
▰ The deeds that Christ will judge include:
▻ Our study of the Bible (2 Tim 2:15);
▻ Our treatment of other believers (Heb 6:10; Mat 10:41-42);
▻ Our words (Mat 12:36);
▻ Our faithful use of God-given abilities (Mat 25:21);
▻ Our acts of kindness (Mat 25:35-40);
▻ How we use our money (1 Tim 6:17-19; 2 Cor 9:6-7);
▻ Our labour for the Lord (1Co 15:58);
How Will Christ Judge Us?
▻ Our endurance of temptation and trials (Jas 1:12) ;
▻ Our suffering for Jesus (2 Cor. 4:17; Rom. 8:18);
▻ How well we control our flesh (1 Cor 9:25-27);
▻ How well we run the race God chooses for us (Phil 2:16; 3:13-14; 1 Cor. 9:24);
▻ How much we look for the Lord’s return (2 Tim 4:8);
▻ Our submission to spiritual leadership (Heb 13:17);
▻ A pastor’s shepherding of his flock (1 Pet 5:2-4);
How Will Christ Judge Us?
▻ Our stewardship (1Cor 4:2) of things that belong to God but are in our care like our bodies (1Co 6:19-20) including our …

 time (Eph 5:16)

How Will Christ Judge Us?
▰ Christ will test the quality of our deeds (1Co 9:13-15)
▻ He will uncover the truth. Our deeds will be made manifest or visible.
▻ He will use fire to test our deeds (Jer 23:29; Rev 1:14)
▻ We “will not be held responsible for that which was give to others, but . . . only for what has been given to us.” (Chafer)
