Last time we were studying the life of Jacob we looked at all the problems that had arisen in Jacob’s life due to the deceitfulness and selfishness of the family.

Today we are going to see how God is able to catch Jacobs’s attention while he’s on the run from Esau and bring him to a place of reliance upon God and trust in God to fulfil his promises.

Theme: Trusting God’s Word

In today’s study on the life of Jacob we follow Jacob as he leaves his home in Beersheba and heads off to Uncle Laban’s place over in Haran. Along the way, Jacob will have a very close encounter with the God of his fathers, Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob will begin to realise that God has a special plan for him and that he needs to surrender to that plan and let God be his guide.

Through the message today we will draw lessons from Jacobs vision and Bethel and be encouraged not to forget the times that God has spoken very powerfully to us.

We will also see how God providentially leads His people in the way that is best.
