In Proverbs 24:9 we read, The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men. Recently, Dave Crowe reported that a main bridge in Papua New Guinea was washed out by raging waters after a downpour of rain. Rushing water has the power to erode hard material, undermine solid structures and […]
Paul was a missionary. At the same time he often briefly served as the pastor of new churches he established. As we read Paul’s Epistles, we often sense his pastoral passion. He loved those he had led to Christ. He prayed for them daily. He suffered for their sakes. He wrote to them. He visited […]
For several years during my youth we had about 20 bee hives on our farm. The bee owner gave us some honey in payment for placing his hives on our farm. Whenever I went near the hives, I was very prudent and to walk carefully, calmly, slowly, and quietly. I did not want to upset […]
The book called “To The Golden Shore” is one of my favourite Christian biographies. It is the life story of Adoniram Judson. A sharp knife will do a better job of cutting. Transition In 1 Thessalonians 2:1-6 I find six ways to […]
Who killed Jesus? Was it Judas who betrayed Him? No! Was it the Jews who hated Jesus? No! Was it Pilate who sentenced Him to be crucified? No! Was it the Roman soldiers who nailed Him to the cross? No! I killed Jesus! You killed Jesus! Our sins caused His suffering, His beating, His mocking, […]
Read Acts 17:2-4. Paul preached the gospel of Christ in Thessalonica. Some believed. This morning we are going to see in 1 Thessalonians 1:5-10 how that gospel changed their lives and how it can change yours. Transition We are going to focus on three aspects of the gospel. The Gospel Presentation (1:5) The gospel is […]
